Thickness effect of an alumina–zirconia–mullite composite coating on the properties of zirconia

Abstract: In this study, a Al2O3–ZrO2–SiO2 slurry was prepared as a coating material, which formed an alumina–zirconia–mullite composite coating after sintering. A zirconia substrate was coated using the alumina–zirconia–mullite composite in order to enhance its strength via compressive residual stress.
