The thermodynamic and physicochemical properties of lavender oil (Lavandula angustifolia Mill.)-ethanol-water system were measured. The chemical composition of solutions of the lavender oil in 70%, 75%, 80%, 85%, 90%, and 95% ethanol was determined using GC/MS analysis. The main compounds in the solutions are oxygenated monoterpenes (β-linalool, terpinen-4-ol, α-terpineol, and linalyl acetate), followed by monoterpene hydrocarbons ((Z)-β-ocimene and (E)-β-ocimene), and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (β-caryophyllene and (E)-β-farnesene). The ternary phase diagrams were constructed. By multiply linear regression model for surface tension prediction was applied. The thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of lavender oil – ethanol - water system were calculated (energy of Gibb’s, enthalpy, entropy, energy of activation, and coefficient of diffusion).

The aim of this research is the experimental determination of density, viscosity, refractive index and speed of sound for binary mixtures of the ester ethyl acetate and alcohols. Experimental measurements were carried out for two systems with 1-propanol and 1-butanol at atmospheric pressure and in a temperature range 288.15 - 323.15 K. Results of experimental measurements were further used to determine excess molar volumes, viscosity deviations, refractive index deviations, and excess isentropic compressibility for each investigated mixture. These calculated data were correlated using the empirical Redlich-Kister equation. Positive values of the excess molar volume and isentropic compressibility appear for both analysed systems, while values of viscosity and refractive index deviations are negative. The structure and specific characteristics of different molecules in considered mixtures and determined non-ideal behaviour allow the insight into the possible type of interactions in the mixture, interstitial accommodation and structural effects. For separation of the mixtures cyclohexanone with alcohols by distillation, the isobaric vapor−liquid equilibrium data for cyclohexanone + (ethanol/n-propanol/ isopropanol) were measured at 101.3 kPa. The van Ness, pure component consistency, and Herington test were used to validate the measured data consistency. The measured data were fitted by the Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC models with the optimized binary parameters. For comparison, the phase equilibrium values for the investigated mixtures were predicted by the COSMO-SAC and UNIFAC models, and the standard deviations of vapor phase composition by the two models are less than 0.0043 and 0.0055.
