Densities, ρ, viscosities, η, speeds of sound, u, and refractive indices, n D , of binary liquid mixtures of 2-octanol with 1,2-dichlorobenzene, 1,3-dichlorobenzene, and 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene have been measured over the entire range of composition at 298.15 K, 303.15 K, and 308.15 K and at atmospheric pressure. From the experimental data of the density, speed of sound, viscosity, and refractive index, the values of the excess molar volume, V E , deviations in isentropic compressibility, κ S , and deviations in molar refraction, R have been calculated. The calculated excess and deviation functions have been analyzed in terms of molecular interactions and structural effects.

Densities, ρ, and speed of sound, u, of binary mixtures of decan-1-ol with cyclohexane, cyclohexanone, or cyclohexylamine have been measured over the entire range of compositions at (298.15 and 303.15) K and at a pressure of 0.1 MPa. From these experimental data, the excess molar volumes, V E, excess molar isentropic compressibilities, K s,m E, molar free volumes, V f, intermolecular free lengths, L f, limiting excess partial molar volumes, V̅ i E,0 and Beyer’s parameters of nonlinearity, B/A, were also calculated. Redlich–Kister polynomial equations were used to fit the excess properties to ensure the accuracy of the experimental data. Numerous empirical correlations were tested to correlate the speed of sound data in which only some correlated well in this study.

Ultrasonic velocity is measured experimentally at 3MHz frequency in the binary liquid mixture containing aniline and anisole at different temperatures over the entire composition range and theoretical values of ultrasonic velocity have been evaluated by using Nomoto's relation, Impedance relation, Van Dael ideal mixture relation. These theoretical values are compared with the experimental values. A good agreement has been found between experimental and theoretical ultrasonic velocities.
