Thermomechanical Properties of SiC-Filled Polybutylene Succinate Composite Fabricated via Melt Extrusion

Abstract: Polybutylene succinate (PBS) composites filled with various mass fractions of silicon carbide (SiC) particles were fabricated via slow melt extrusion. The morphological analysis revealed that the fabrication technique assisted in achieving a good adhesion between the PBS and SiC, along with excellent filler dispersion throughout the PBS matrix. The inclusion of 40 wt.% SiC in the PBS composite afforded a 10 • C increase in the thermal degradation temperature and a 160% enhancement in the thermal conductivity r… Show more

“…Of course, the degradation undergone during processing and the environmental degradation during the lifetime are the main hindrances to the recycling of these polymers. It is, indeed, well known that these biodegradable polymers are quite labile with respect to both thermomechanical degradation [ 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 ] and photo-oxidation [ 19 , 20 , 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 ].…”

“…With increasing knowledge of the genetics of hematolymphoid neoplasms, a molecularly oriented classification has a significant impact on the accuracy of diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. In recent years, the availability of conjugated or unconjugated mAbs against specific targets (such as CD20, CD19, CD22), small molecules interfering with activated molecular pathways (such as tyrosine kinase inhibitors, γ-secretase inhibitors, FLT3 inhibitors), and genetically engineered chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR T) as immunotherapy has broadened the opportunities to target the key genetic aberrations in patients with various leukemias and lymphomas (32)(33)(34)(35)(36).…”

“…In the case of the T c , it can be assumed that the CPG particles hinder the movement of the polymer chains and at the same time act as nucleating agent for PBAT macromolecules. 58,59 Consequently, the attractive intermolecular forces become more and more relevant at higher temperatures. The result is an increase in the T c value, as the percentage of added CPG increases.…”
