“…Up to now, lots of investigations on the TL characteristics of borate compounds have been carried out, e.g., un-doped and Ce-doped BaB 4 O 7 [2], Tb 3+ -doped Ba 2 Ca(BO 3 ) 2 [3], un-doped and Cu-and Mn-doped K 2 B 4 O 7 [4], MgB 4 O 7 :Dy,Na [5], SrB 4 O 7 :Dy [6], rare-earth-doped Sr 2 Mg(BO 3 ) 2 [7], Li 2 B 4 O 7 :Cu,In [8,9] and BaB 4 O 7 : Dy [10]. Although not all of these materials can be utilized in practice, at least the results obtained provide useful information concerning the defects and trap structure that are helpful in the search for new borate TLD materials.…”

“…On borates, the thermally stimulated luminescence studies were started in 1967 by the work of Schulman et al [3]. Since then, TL glow curves and TL emission characteristics were studied by many authors using the thermoluminescent technique for radiation dosimetry [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]. The thermoluminescence studies of borate compounds are of interest because of their near tissue equivalent absorption coefficient [12][13][14], extremely low cost, lower synthesis temperature and relatively easy preparation [15][16][17][18][19][20].…”

“…Magnesium borate compounds Mg 2 B 2 O 5 , Mg 3 B 2 O 6 and MgB 4 O 7 have many applications involving catalysts for conversion of hydrocarbons [1], thermoluminescence phosphor [2], ferroelastic materials [3], nanomaterials [4,5], reinforcements for production of composite materials [6][7][8], and the fused cast refractory that possesses corrosion-erosion resistance in basic oxygen steel making environments and high degree of thermal shock resistance [9]. Thus, various synthesis methods for preparation of magnesium borate compounds with different morphological forms such as nanorods [5] and whiskers [10][11][12] have been proposed.…”
