Thermodynamic Properties and Viscosities of High-Titanium Slags

Abstract: The influence of TiO 2 , binary basicity and Al 2 O 3 /TiO 2 ratio on the heat capacity, enthalpy and slag fluidity of CaO-SiO 2 -MgO-Al 2 O 3 -TiO 2 -based slag at 1 693 K, 1 723 K, and 1 753 K (1 420°C, 1 450°C, and 1 480°C) was investigated in this work. From the calculation results, it was found that the heat capacity of the slag increased with the increasing of TiO 2 content and the Al 2 O 3 /TiO 2 ratio and with the decreasing of basicity in the experimental temperature range. Enthalpy change increased w… Show more

“…[1,2]. Furthermore, the physicochemical properties of the slag were determined by its chemical composition except temperature, mainly related to type and proportion of the iron ore and other raw materials [3,4]. In China, the chemical composition of blast furnace slag differed greatly owing to the utilization of special ores.…”

“…The key to using VTM is to effectively separate and extract the valuable metals, such as iron, vanadium, and titanium 5) . Currently, the blast furnace process is the primary technology for utilizing VTM [6][7] . Because a solvent is introduced in this process, not only the grade of titanium in the blast furnace slag is very low, but TiO 2 reacts with the solvent (CaO) to form perovskite, which makes it difficult to extract the titanium resources from VTM.…”
