“…similar microstructure was obtained for al-0.7 wt% co alloy castings [17]. The investigated alloys 03 and al-0.7% co are hypoeutectic, because according to the literature, the eutectic point occurs at 1.09% by weight of cobalt [9]. The average spacing between cell boundaries is 29.4 µm ± 3.7 µm.…”

“…The increasing content of atoms in the solid solution causes an intense reduction in conductivity [8]. The al-co phase equilibrium system shows that al 9 co 2 appears as a eutectic [9,10]. This phase crystallizes in a monoclinic structure and has a favourable effect on mechanical properties [11].…”

“…Several recent efforts have been focused on revisiting the Al-Co phase diagram (Figure 1b) [43][44][45]. [46,47] (Reprinted with permission from [46]. Copyright 2022, Springer Nature), (b) Revisited Al-Co equilibrium phase diagram [43,45,48]).…”

“…VAM Al-Co alloys with Co in the range of 2-32 wt% Co (Al-Al 9 Co 2 ) exhibited directional microstructures, transitioning from eutectic to supereutectic with increasing Co content [4,18]. Notably, relatively high amounts of Co were found dissolved in the Al matrix (ranging from 0.5 wt% in Al-2 wt% Co to 5.5 wt% in Al-20 wt% Co) [4,19], despite the negligible Co solubility in Al under equilibrium conditions [20]. This was attributed to the high solidification rates involved in the fabrication process [19].…”
