“…Moreover, as shown in Fig. 9, the calculated mixing enthalpy is in reasonable agreement with the experimental data at 1250 • C. The minimum values of mixing enthalpies of liquid in the Cu-RE system (such as Cu-Dy [38], Cu-Yb [39] and Cu-Er [40]) correspond to about 40 at.% RE and the present calculated results can fit this tendency.…”

“…6. The minimum values of mixing enthalpies of the liquid phase in Cu-RE systems (such as Cu-Tm [6], Cu-Dy [31], Cu-Er [32] and Cu-Yb [34]) correspond to around 40 at.% RE and the present calculated results can also fit this tendency.…”

“…The invariant reactions in the Cu-Ho system are listed in Table 3, where good agreement between the calculated and experimental temperatures for those invariant reactions was obtained except for the congruent temperature of the Cu 2 Ho phase, which can not be perfectly reproduced. Similar problem occurs in the thermodynamic description of the Cu-Dy [31], Cu-Er [32] and Cu-Tb [33] binary systems, where the congruent temperatures of the Cu 2 RE (RE: Dy, Er and Tb) phases were not precisely reproduced. Therefore, further investigation seems to be needed to confirm the phase relations in this region.…”

“…As can be seen, the calculated results are reasonably consistent with experimental data measured by Meschel and Kleppa [19], but with the data of Sommer et al [18]. Actually, in our assessment, we found it was very difficult to fit the result of Sommer et al [18] together with other experimental data. This problem also existed in the assessment of Cu-Er [23] and Cu-Gd [24] systems. Meschel and Kleppa's data was reported in 2005, whereas the work by Sommer et al [18] was published in 1986.…”
