Thermodynamic Analysis of New Combination of Supercharged Boiler Cycle and Heat Recovery Cycle for Power Generation

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to study the performance of a new combination of supercharged boiler–gas turbine cycle, which is expected to reduce the cooling air in the combustor and heat recovery cycle, from a thermodynamic point of view. Two designs of this cycle were adopted and the influences of various operating parameters, such as compressor pressure ratio, ambient temperature, inlet gas temperature of gas turbine, percentage of excess air, and number of feedwater heaters, were studied. Three techniques were … Show more

“…Xiang and Chen [12] scrutinized a threepressured HRSG integrated with a general electric (GE) gas turbine, emphasizing efficiency improvement and exergy loss reduction through HRSG operating parameter optimization. Cogeneration plants, utilizing both gas and steam turbine cycles, have been introduced, exploring cumulative efficiency improvement strategies [13,14,20]. Raising the gas turbine inlet temperature to 1427 • C in a combined cycle has been identified as a potential avenue to achieve an overall efficiency of 60% [13].…”

“…In a supercharged boiler, the steam drum is an important com-ponent and plays a central role, so its lifetime is of apparent importance. However, for the supercharged boiler, previous papers mostly concentrated on its new developments and applications [1][2][3], combustion and heat transfer [4], hy-draulic characteristics [5], control technologies and models [6][7][8], shock resistance characteristics [9,10], as well as the technologies and applications of turbocharging units [11,12].…”
