Thermochromatographic Separation of Radioselenium from Irradiated Cu3As-target: Production of no-carrier added 75Se

Abstract: No-carrier added 75 Se / High current targetry / Thermochromatography / Solvent extraction / Radionuclide purity / Chemical reactivity SummaryNo-carrier added 75 Se (Γ 1/2 = 120 d) was produced with a highcurrent Cu 3 As-target via the 75 As(p,n)-reaction. A two-step thermochromatographic method using 0 2 as the purging gas was developed to separate radioselenium which was taken up in 6 Μ HCl. A 4 h irradiation with protons (E p = 17 0 MeV) at a beam current of 20 μΑ led to about 37 MBq (1 mCi) of no-carrier a… Show more

“…This has been practically demonstrated [55] and 73 Se was obtained in quantities sufficient for medical applications (see below). Besides low yields of products in -particle induced reactions, there is often another disadvantage that the available -particle beams are of lower intensity than in the case of the proton.…”
