Thermally stimulated luminescence properties of magnesium orthosilicate single crystals doped with Dy3+ ions

Abstract: In this study, we grew the Dy-doped Mg2SiO4 single crystals by the floating zone method to investigate the photoluminescence (PL) and thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL) properties. All the Dy-doped Mg2SiO4 showed the emission peaks at 480, 580, and 670 nm in PL and TSL spectra, and these peak wavelengths were typical for the 4f-4f transitions of Dy3+ ions. In the TSL glow curves, all the samples had glow peaks at 50, 200, 280, and 380°C. The TSL dose response function of the 1% Dy-doped Mg2SiO4 single cry… Show more

“…(6)(7)(8)(9)(10)(11)(12) Magnesium orthosilicate (Mg 2 SiO 4 ) is a well-known host material of inorganic phosphors because of its stable crystal structure, high physical and chemical stability, and low thermal expansion property. (13) Mg 2 SiO 4 is also a well-known material for storing phosphors for personal dosimetry because Z eff of Mg 2 SiO 4 (11.4) is relatively close to that of human soft tissues. (14) In particular, Tb-doped Mg 2 SiO 4 powders are used as commercial TSL dosimeters.…”

“…Many researchers still have developed new storage phosphors since no storage phosphors that meet all requirements have been discovered. [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16] In this research, Ce:Y 2 SiO 5 (YSO) was focused. YSO is a famous host material for long-lasting phosphor, lasers, phosphor for radiation measurement, coherent time-domain optical memory because of its high-temperature strength, high visible light transparency, high chemical stability, low thermal expansion, and high conductivity.…”
