“…So far, many PCMs such as hydrated salts [9], inorganic salts [10][11][12], paraffins [13], fatty acids [14], polyesters [15] and polyethers [16] have been investigated for thermal energy storage at different temperature range. Compared with other PCMs, inorganic salts usually exhibit high thermal stability and are advantageous for the application at high temperatures (>200 C) [17][18][19].…”

“…In order to demonstrate it, the mixed metal salt consisting of the mixture of 12 wt% NaNO 3 and 8 wt% KNO 3 known as "Solar salt" or eutectic mixture [25][26][27] of which the melting point was 495 K, was impregnated onto the MgO because the eutectic composition was difficult to obtain when the coprecipitation method was applied because the filtering and subsequent thorough washing deviated the desired composition. The melting point of NaNO 3 -KNO 3 impregnated on MgO was also determined to be 496 K from differential scanning calorimeter measurement.…”

“…A comparison of the two systems leads to the following conclusions. LiNO 3 is more basic than KNO 3 and NaNO 3 and therefore shows the greatest activity in LiNaKNO 3 . This suggests that the Cr-Mo steels were attacked mainly by LiNO 3 , such that the corrosion of the steel specimens was due to oxidation as well as lithiumization [16].…”

“…The efficiency of this process requires high-temperature operations, which can be achieved using HTF of nitrate salts featuring a low melting point, high specific heat, high thermal conductivity and high energy density. Recent studies have proposed eutectic ternary nitrate salt with a composition of 30LiNO 3 -18NaNO 3 -52KNO 3 (wt%), commonly referred to as LiNaKNO 3 , as a candidate nitrate salt [3,4]. The use of LiNaKNO 3 enables an increase in the operating temperature of commercial CSP to $ 550 1C [5].…”
