Thermal, solution and structural studies of a 3D Ag(I) coordination polymer with various Ag-Ag bonds, [Ag3(μ-Hbtc)(μ-H2btc)]n

Abstract: Ag 3 ( -Hbtc)( -H 2 btc)] n (H 3 btc = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid) (1), a new rarely reported Ag(I) three-dimensional coordination polymer with several Ag-Ag bonds, has been synthesized, characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy and its structure determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The thermal stability of compound 1 was studied by thermal gravimetric and differential thermal analyses. The single crystal X-ray analysis of compound 1 shows that the complex consists of [Ag 3 ( -Hbt… Show more

“…2a, {Ag 5 BW 12 O 40 }@Ag-BTC-2 adopts polyhedral morphology when reticulated Ag-BTC is wrapped. The pore size of Ag-BTC 53 is too small to allow [BW 12 O 40 ] 5− ions, with a particle size of 10.29 Å, 45 to enter the pores, so they eventually wrap around the surface of Ag-BTC. Thus, the overall morphology of the compound involves the formation of a core–shell structure with Ag 5 [BW 12 O 40 ] as the shell and Ag-BTC as the center.…”

“…S2 and S3a†). Ag-BTC has a rod-like structure with a uniform pore size, and the pore size of Ag-BTC 24 allows Mo 7 O 24 6− to enter which thus forms {Co 3 Mo 7 O 24 }@Ag-BTC-2 with a larger size (Fig. S3b and c†).…”

“…POMs modified with BTC have attracted extensive attention in recent years. 24,25 BTC can modify POMs not only by forming metal–organic polyhedra (MOP), 26–28 but also by combining with metal ions to form M-BTC (M = Cu, 29 Zn, 30 Co, 31 Fe, 32 Zr, 33 Cd, 34 Nd, 35 etc. ).…”

“…The peak corresponding to the stretching vibration band of C-O can be seen at 1183 cm −1 . The frequencies at 1080 and 918 cm −1 is attributable to C-H in-plane and out-of-plane bending modes, respectively [47,48]. Also, the peak at 761 cm −1 is due to the bending mode of δ(O-C-O) [49,50].…”
