Thermal properties of crosslinked blends chlorosulfonated polyethylene and styrene-butadiene rubber

Abstract

W³aoeciwooeci termiczne usieciowanych mieszanin chlorosulfonowanego polietylenu i kauczuku butadienowo-styrenowego Streszczenie-Przedstawiono wyniki badañ w³aoeciwooeci termicznych usieciowanych mieszanin chlorosulfonowanego polietylenu CSM24 lub CSM43 z kauczukiem butadienowo-styrenowym (SBR). Mieszaniny sieciowano w temp. 160 o C, w obecnooeci tlenku cynku (ZnO) b¹dŸ nanotlenku cynku (nZnO). Krzywe termiczne (DSC i TG) uzyskane w atmosferze gazu obojêtnego zinterpretowano z punktu widzenia przemian fazowych i towarzysz¹cych im reakcji chemicznych polimerów wchodz¹cych w sk³ad badanych mieszanin. Stwierdzono dobr¹ mieszalnooeae CSM i SBR bêd¹c¹ skutkiem utworzenia w procesie sieciowania niekonwencjonalnej, interelastomerowej sieci przestrzennej. Na podstawie badañ komplementarnych zinterpretowano krzywe termiczne elastomerów z punktu widzenia ich przemian chemicznych. Wyniki wykaza³y wyraŸny wp³yw zawartooeci chloru w CSM na temperaturê zeszklenia usieciowanych mieszanin. Oceniono, ¿e mieszaniny CSM/SBR w obecnooeci nZnO ulegaj¹ dwuetapowemu sieciowaniu termicznemu i w szerszym przedziale temperatury zacho-wuj¹ w³aoeciwooeci elastyczne. THERMAL PROPERTIES OF CROSSLINKED BLENDS OF CHLOROSULFONATED POLYETHY-LENE AND STYRENE-BUTADIENE RUBBER Summary-The results of investigations of thermal properties of chlorosulfonated polyethylene CSM24 or CSM43 with styrene-butadiene rubber SBR crosslinked blends are presented. The blends were crosslinked at temp. 160 o C in the presence of zinc oxide (ZnO) or nano-zinc oxide (nZnO). Thermal curves (DSC, TG) obtained in an inert gas atmosphere were interpreted from the points of view of phase transitions and accompanying chemical reactions carried out with polymer blends' components (Fig. 1-5). A good comiscibility of CSM and SBR, resulting from the formation of nonconventional inter-elastomer network during the crosslinking process, has been found. The results showed clear effect of chlorine content in CSM on the value of glass transition temperature of the crosslinked blend (Table 1). It was stated that CSM/SBR blends in the presence of nZnO undergo two-stage thermal crosslinking and keep their elastic properties in wider temperature range.
