A thermal analysis experiment was conducted in O 2 /N 2 /CO 2 and O 2 /N 2 atmospheres (O 2 concentrations were 21, 14, 8, and CO 2 concentrations were 0, 39, 46, 52) to investigate the thermal behavior of coal oxidation and combustion. Results demonstrated that an elevated CO 2 concentration or decreased O 2 concentration had a delaying effect on the thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) curves; moreover, the characteristic temperatures were substantially augmented.When the O 2 concentration was 21 vol%, the total heat released by coals A (highly volatile bituminous coal) and B (anthracite coal) decreased by 5.8% and 4.1%, respectively, after CO 2 addition. The comprehensive combustion performance index was also lowered. The DSC curve can be divided into two exothermic peaks, and the ratio of the peak 1 to peak 2 areas decreased with the addition of CO 2, which indicated that CO 2 inhibited the oxidation of the active functional groups of coal structures.Apparent activation energy in O 2 /CO 2 /N 2 was less than that in O 2 /N 2 .

Performance of building energy supply systems using renewable energy

There are two types of renewable energy widely used in China: air-source heat pump and compact all glass solar vacuum pipe water heating systems. To compare the performance of these supply systems, test systems were installed on two adjacent apartment buildings with the same structure, shape, and material. Both sets of equipment were placed in the same environment for the same 31-day period. The performances and performance parameters of the systems were systematically analyzed. The system energy consumption ratio of the compact all glass solar vacuum pipe water heating system was greater than that of the air-source system on 81% of the days in the study period. However, extension theory analysis showed that the weight coefficients for the performance parameters of the two systems were equivalent over the study period. The grey relational degree between the system performance and the parameters were also calculated. The grey correlation degrees of the compact all glass solar vacuum pipe water heating system's properties with outlet temperature, inlet temperature, environment temperature, solar radiation, and sunshine time were 0.69, 0.71, 0.68, 0.70, and 0.68; and the grey correlation degrees of the air source heat pump water heating system's properties with outlet temperature, inlet temperature, environment temperature, solar radiation, and hours of sunshine were 0.71, 0.73, 0.71, 0.65, and 0.72. Furthermore, multivariate regression equations were used to study the changes of other parameters when one of the single variables changes.

To explore the micromechanism of the structural changes of anthracite due to heat accumulation by water and pyrite, during oxidation, anthracite with coal samples was selected in this work from Baijiao Coalmine, Sichuan, China. The samples were added with water of 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20 mass % and pyrite of 1, 2, 4, and 6 mass % and were conducted to experimented torts. As compared with the raw coal sample, the effects of water and pyrite on the microstructure of anthracite were studied. The results indicate that the oxygen-containing functional group of coal increases with the addition of water. The content of the aromatic structure in coal was thought to be due to water and pyrite synergistic effects. The synergistic effect of water and pyrite accelerates the oxidation process of seven types of active groups in coal samples. The water content was 10–15 mass %, and the associated pyrite content was 2–4 mass %; the contribution to the oxidation activity of the main active groups of coal was the largest under oxidizing conditions.
