Thermal properties and applications of form‐stable phase change materials for thermal energy storage and thermal management: A review

Tingwei Fu,
Wenze Wang,
Guiyin Fang

Abstract: Phase change materials possess the merits of high latent heat and a small range of phase change temperature variation. Therefore, there are great prospects for applying in heat energy storage and thermal management. However, the commonly used solid‐liquid phase change materials are prone to leakage as the phase change process occurs. To address this drawback of solid‐liquid phase change materials, researchers have developed form‐stable phase change materials. There are three main strategies for preparation of … Show more

“…118 The preparation, thermal properties, and advantages of form-stable PCMs for energy storage, along with the methods to overcome any limitations and their applications, are reviewed and discussed in detail. 119 In experimental work, to overcome the difficulties with conventional PCMs, CPCMs are prepared with a blend of LA, PA and EG in varying proportions by weight. A CPCM was prepared with LA/modified BN nanosheets-sodium sulphate that was made by the vacuum impregnation process, and sodium sulphate was added to increase the porosity and thermal conductivity of the CPCM.…”
