Thermal functioning of a transparent barrier equipped with a system of external thermal insulation shields

Abstract: The article presents the results of tests of the thermal operation of a transparent barrier, which is equipped with an external thermal insulation roller blind. The tests were carried out under real climatic conditions. The barrier in question was mounted on the south façade in two external test chambers. The aim of the research was to determine whether and to what extent the external thermal insulation roller blind influences the flow of heat through the transparent barrier. The second goal was to propose a w… Show more

“…This is a disadvantageous feature due to the inability to stabilize the air temperature in the adjacent room. Particularly significant temperature fluctuations occur in the case of southern facades, where the influence of solar radiation leads to the overheating of rooms in summer [3,41,42]. This phenomenon reduces the comfort of using such a room.…”

“…The finite element method (FEM) was used to determine the influence of the application of the designed composite on the improvement of thermal conditions of the analyzed part of the building structure. Numerical simulations, including FEM in studies on heat flow through building partitions, give the opportunity to assess the correctness of the adopted solution and compare the obtained results with other solution concepts [36] without the need to perform costly and time-consuming tests of real models [37]. Numerical analysis is therefore an ideal tool at the stage of creating design concepts.…”

“…Using the experimental method, tests can be carried out for a single building component or a modified multilayer building partition. These tests are carried out in laboratory conditions [17][18][19] or in (outdoor) field conditions, using natural climatic conditions [20][21][22][23]. In the article [17], the authors conducted tests on a PCM modified wall in a laboratory chamber in order to determine the influence of temperatures on the effective thermal conductivity of this partition.…”
