Thermal environment assessment in selected Polish educational buildings

Abstract: The paper presents experimental results of a study on indoor thermal environment in selected educational buildings located in the city of Kielce (Poland). The volunteers in the investigated rooms were asked to fill in the anonymous questionnaires containing questions on their thermal sensation, thermal preference and thermal acceptability votes as well as humidity assessment and humidity preference votes. In total, 83 people completed the questionnaires. Simultaneously, the indoor air parameters were measured … Show more

“…The obtained result showed that the feelings of the respondents according to the predicted average of votes were cooler than the reality. Dębska & Krakowiak [19] examined the perception of thermal comfort by pupils and students in selected three educational buildings in Kielce, Poland. The questionnaires were completed by 83 people in total, and the parameters of the internal environment were measured using a measuring meter.…”

“…In the literature review, a lot of research works related to TSV and PMV indicators. However, there is still almost no research (except for studies conducted by the author [3] and the other researchers from Kielce University of Technology [4,5] comparing modern construction with traditional construction. Shin et al [6] analysed the PMV and TSV for CO 2 in the university library, thus proposing a new air-conditioning solution that improves people's thermal sensations.…”

“…It turned out that the conditions required by ISO do not allow the implementation of the classification of the thermal environment. Dębska & Krakowiak [4] examined three educational buildings with different levels of air exchange. The parameters that prevailed during the course were 22.5 o C, 25.3 o C and 27.6 o C. The authors checked the values of PMV and TSV.…”
