Thermal, dielectric and catalytic behavior of palladium doped PVC films

Abstract: The present paper discusses the aspects of synthesizing palladium (Pd) doped (Pd +2 and Pd 0) poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) using simple solution cast technique. The Pd loading to PVC was altered from 2.5% to 10.0% and the material properties were studied using UV-Visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM). Thermal behavior of all the samples were studied using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Broi… Show more

“…However, neither APC nor POx coating changed the original PVC film. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the broad diffraction peaks of neat PVC are located at 2θ 21.5 and 28.8°, being characteristic for pristine PVC . Comparing to the silanized PVC films (59.6 counts), the diffraction peaks for plasma-treated ones were significantly more intense (167–178 counts), Figure S24c.…”

Plasma treatment did not perturb the crystallinity of the film, as reported previously.…”

“…PC between 12 and 28°, which are characteristic of a crystalline structure [44,45]. However, sharp and intense Bragg reflections can be seen in case of SNC-PC-X1 and SNC-PC-X2 at 2θ values of 38.2°, 44.2°, 64.4°, 77.5°and 81.6°, which are assigned to the (111), (200), (220), (311) and (222) planes of FCC of silver, respectively [40][41][42]. The diffraction peaks are considerably broad, which indicates that the crystallite size is very small.…”
