Thermal conductivity of ZrO2-4 mol%Y2O3 thin coatings by pulsed thermal imaging method

Abstract: Thin ZrO 2-4mol% Y 2 O 3 coatings were deposited onto ZrO 2 substrates by electron beam-physical vapor deposition. The coated samples revealed a feather-like columnar microstructure. The main phase of the ZrO 2-4mol% Y 2 O 3 coatings was the tetragonal phase. To evaluate the influence of the coating's thickness on the thermal conductivity of thin ZrO 2-4mol% Y 2 O 3 coatings, the pulsed thermal imaging method was employed to obtain the thermal conductivity of the coating layer in the two-layer (coating and sub… Show more

“…The preparation methods for ZrO 2 coatings, such as the hydrothermal treatment [6], sol-gel method [7], physical vapor deposition [8], electrodeposition [9] and spraying techniques [10] are highly developed. Among the existing methods, the in situ reaction technique is characterized by its uniform coating and the perfect bonding with the substrate.…”
