Thermal behavior of metallodendrimers possessing bis(terpyridinyl)Ru(II) connectivity and different surface functionality

Abstract: A series of metallodendrimers, assembled by means of bis(terpyridinyl)-Ru (II) connectivity on poly(propylene imine) dendrimer scaffolds, with homogeneous or heterogeneous surfaces, were prepared. Differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis were used to determine their thermal behavior, glass-transition temperatures, and the decomposition kinetics and temperatures; no synergy effects for these properties were observed for the heterogeneously surfaced constructs in contrast to the correspon… Show more

“…Electrochemical Properties. In our previous studies on copoly(aryl ether)s with isolated alternate hole- and electron-transporting segments we verified that oxidation and reduction start at the former and latter segments, respectively. This characteristic is normally found in isolated copolymers and confirms that it can enhance electron and hole affinities simultaneously if proper electron- and hole-transporting segments are incorporated. Isolated P1 and P4 are typical copolymers with alternate hole- and electron-transporting segments.…”

“…In our previous research isolated copoly(aryl ether)s consisting of defined hole-transporting (donor) or electron-transporting (acceptor) segments did enhance electron and hole affinities simultaneously, among which the nonconjugated spacers conduced toward large band gap for blue emission. However, the characteristics, which normally occur in isolated polymers, are barely observed in conjugated polymers.…”

“…In copoly(aryl ether)s composed of isolated hole- and electron-transporting segments, the oxidation and reduction was proved to start from the former and the latter segments, respectively. Recently, this characteristics were also found in linear EL copolymers possess twisted connectors (such as biphenylene) between electron-donor and electro-acceptors segments . In this work, the hyperbranched polymers PF1 − PF5 also consist of electron- and hole-transporting segments, and the triazole moiety is connected with fluorene derivatives via a σ-bond.…”

“…In this work, the hyperbranched polymers PF1 − PF5 also consist of electron- and hole-transporting segments, and the triazole moiety is connected with fluorene derivatives via a σ-bond. The twisted structure between them effectively limits delocalization of electronic charges, whose effect is similar to the ether spacer or biphenylene connector mentioned above. …”
