Abstract: Spin-related effects discovered in ultrathin magnetic films generally have an interfacial nature. The quality of interfaces between a heavy metal and a ferromagnet is the main driver of surface anisotropy, antisymmetric exchange, chiral damping, spin Hall effect, and spin−orbit torques.
