“…Some of them are considered to be life-threatening, especially the hypertensive crisis that results after consumption of tyramine containing foods. 41 Further, the drug-drug and drug-food interactions are also frequent with the MAOIs therapy. Particularly, the serotonin syndrome is reported to occur due to interaction between MAOIs and Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).…”

“…( Maes and Meltzer, 1995 , Asberg, 1997 , Placidi, 2001 , Stockmeier, 2003 ). The monoamine hypothesis has for many years served as the foundation for the production of antidepressant drugs, specifically monoamine oxidase inhibitors, to restore the normal levels of monoamines ( Thomsen and Sorensen, 2007 ; Ramesh et al, 2017 ; Jesulola et al, 2018 ).…”

“…Inhibiting or reversing the atrophy that occurs in neurons, in addition to improving cell survival and function, would be the means by which this goal would be achieved 23 . Because it contains a wide variety of important phytoconstituents, such as gallotannic acid, bellericanin, ellagic acid, gallic acid, termilignan, thanni lignan, flavone, and anolignan B, tannins, ellagic acid, ethyl gallate, galloyl glucose, and chebulaginic acid, as well as phenyllemblin, sitosterol 24 , and As a result of the presence of these compounds, it demonstrates a diverse array of pharmacological activities, some of which include antisecretory, analgesic, antihypertensive, antidiarrheal activity, antimicrobial activity, anti-diabetic, antioxidant, antiulcer, antipyretic, hepatoprotective, anticancer, angiogenesis, and antidepressant-like activity 25,26 .…”
