Abstract

Any medical or surgical condition may be associated with pregnancy but not all such conditions are adversely affected by the pregnant state. Pregnancy is a physiological phase, but it does place an added strain on a woman both physically and psychologically, and when this strain is superimposed upon some concomitant diseases, the mother's health or life may be endangered.
