Theory of Vibrations of Sugar Beet Leaf Harvester Front-Mounted on Universal Tractor

Abstract: The harvest and transport of sugar beet leaves during harvesting can be considered a current task in the area of sugar beet growing system development. A rotary sugar beet leaf cutting mechanism is used for achieving the significant increase in the harvester forward speed during harvest. This leads to intensive vibrations of the topping mechanism in the longitudinal vertical plane causing the decrease of harvest quality. Therefore, it is necessary to analytically determine the effect of kinematic and design pa… Show more

“…The results of calculating the lost profit due to soil contamination of root crops Analyzing the data in Table 1, we can conclude that with the contamination of root crops within 10%, the lost proceeds from their sale will be 0.8 thousand rubles/ha. Let's calculate the cost of transportation of sugar beet root crops after harvesting with and without the use of the proposed cleaning device [9][10][11][12][13][14][15].…”

“…Based on the principle of a mower-shredder, a new universal front-mounted beet topper machine has been developed, which has been mounted on a wheeled tractor (Figure 1a). This rotary beet topper machine cuts in a continuous way both the rosette of the leaves and the weeds, transporting the cut material into a vehicle that follows sideways [8].…”

“…An equivalent scheme of movement only in the longitudinal-vertical plane of the front-mounted beet topper machine has been initially set up ( Figure 2) [8]. In the equivalent scheme two different conditions have been considered: (i) the feeler wheel is reaching the top of soil irregularity; (ii) the feeler wheel is on the top of this irregularity.…”

“…Therefore, the scientific and research community continue to search for design and technical solutions in order to meet these operative needs and, at the same time, reduce the energy required by the digging and harvesting process of the beets, so increasing the productivity and reliability of the machines [34][35][36][37][38][39]. The study, design and prototyping of a new sugar beet top harvester in Ukraine that, when front mounted on the tractor, considerably increases beet top harvesting performances has to be considered in this framework [40][41][42]. According to experimental data obtained from field tests, the aim of this study was to evaluate the main performance parameters related to the operation of this new machine.…”
