Theory and phenomenology of supernova neutrinos

Abstract: Abstract. The theory and phenomenology of supernova neutrinos is reviewed, with focus on the most recent advancements on the neutrino flux predicted by supernova numerical models, on neutrino oscillations inside the star and in the Earth, and on the physics of the diffuse supernova neutrino background. Future directions of research are briefly summarized.

“…Initial ground thermal properties were set according to sediments types and ground ice contents measured from recovered permafrost samples. The differences between air temperatures and ground surface temperatures were determined by using n-factors (Lunardini, 1978;Burn and Smith, 1988). Measured freezing and thawing n-factor values had been previously obtained by recording air and surface temperatures over a year or two under various vegetation and snow covers in Nunavik (MĂ©nard et al 1998;Allard et al 2004;L'HĂ©rault et al, 2012;LeBlanc, 2013); they were applied at the thermistor cable sites after site visits made during summer to observe vegetation cover and in late winter to measure maximum snow depth.…”

“…6 (left). Flavor-uniform E −2.0 and E −2.18 neutrino fluxes have been assumed, where the latter is motivated by the best-fit proton spectrum [16]. Exponential cut-offs at energies of 500, 100, and 50 TeV have also been tested.…”
