Theory and development of magnetic flux leakage sensor for flaws detection: A review

Abstract: <p>This paper presents a review of state-of-art in the Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) sensor technology, which plays an important role in Nondestructive Testing (NDT) to detect crack and corrosion in ferromagnetic material. The demand of more reliable MFL tools and signal acquisition increase as it has a direct impact on structure integrity and can lead to be major catastrophic upon questionable signal analysis. This is because the size, cost, efficiency, and reliability of the extensive MFL system for NDT … Show more

“…The EC probes can be categorized according to the operation mode and configuration of applications [104,105], as shown in Figure 14. The EC probes and related signal processing techniques have been summarized in previous studies [29,30,[106][107][108]. The characteristics of the conventional probes are briefly analyzed below.…”

“…PT MCCI applies company standards to maintain product grade and quality. One of the standard applications of the NDT testing process for components or materials is storage tank floor inspection (Sharif et al, 2019). The purpose of writing this paper is to find out the NDT method used in the 2F-4905 Tank inspection, especially the MFL method and to find out the condition of the 2F-4905 tank and ensure that there are no leaks or potential defects that can cause leaks in the future.…”
