“…Second, while the Latin American research on crime and policing has shed light on public support of human rights restrictions ( Dammert and Malone, 2006 ; Cruz, 2009 ; Uang, 2013 ; Pion-Berlin and Carreras, 2017 ; Visconti, 2020 ; Bonner and Dammert, 2022 ), we also examine the potential impact of protests on human rights perceptions.
