Theoretical model of the density of states for random dilute binary alloys

Abstract: A theoretical model of the density of states for random binary alloys is presented in the dilute limit based on a mean-field approach. The model incorporates both diagonal and off-diagonal disorder as well as short-range order. Extensive results are reported for the density of states and various physical quantities in the limit of weak concentration and compared to other theories.
