Theoretical interpretation of the $D^+_s \to π^+ π^0 η$ decay and the nature of $a_0(980)$

Abstract: In a recent paper [1], the BESIII collaboration reported the so-called first observation of pure W -annihilation decays D + s → a + 0 (980)π 0 and D + s → a 0 0 (980)π + . The measured absolute branching fractions are, however, puzzlingly larger than those of other measured pure W -annihilation decays by at least one order of magnitude. In addition, the relative phase between the two decay modes is found to be about 180 degrees. In this letter, we show that all these can be easily understood if the a0( 980) is… Show more

“…3 is dynamically generated with the ChUA, where the a 0 (980) state can be well reproduced. It should be noted that the result shows the typical cusp effect for the a 0 (980), which is consistent with many calculations [35,39,[53][54][55]. And in high precision experimental measurements, this kind of cusp structure appears quite evidently for the a 0 (980) resonance [56][57][58][59].…”

“…And in high precision experimental measurements, this kind of cusp structure appears quite evidently for the a 0 (980) resonance [56][57][58][59]. The similar situation is also visible in recent lattice QCD simulation [35]. The experimental data of the D 0 → π 0 ηη decay from BESIII Collaboration did not show this characteristic clearly, because the sampling intervals and errors are very large.…”

“…Also based on the BESIII measurements and with the final state interaction under the ChUA, Ref. [40] investigated the so-called pure W -annihilation decay D + s → π + π 0 η, and Ref. [41] studied the single Cabibbo suppressed process D + → π + π 0 η, where the main role of the a 0 (980) state generated in the subprocesses was found.…”
