Theoretical calculations of surface-state loss in three-phase charge-coupled devices

Abstract: Theoretical calculations are presented for surface-state loss under the transfer electrodes in three-phase charge-coupled devices, using the published data for NSS and sigma for the two substrate orientations, namely (100) and (111). Inefficiency values are compared and performance limitations are discussed for these orientations.
