Theoretical assessment of the impact of awareness programs on cholera transmission dynamic

Abstract: In this paper, we propose and analyse a mathematical model of the transmission dynamics of cholera incorporating awareness programs to study the impact of socio-media and education on cholera outbreaks. These programs induce behavioural changes in the population, which divide the susceptible class into two subclasses, aware individuals and unaware individuals. We first provide a basic study of the model. We compute the Disease-Free Equilibrium (DFE) and derive the basic reproduction number … Show more

“…The model suggested in this work is an extension of our previous model [13] in which the poverty have been modelled. The relevance of this work is due to the fact the poverty is a fundamental feature of most of the regions where the cholera is endemic [2].…”

“…His results indicate, at an average of 87%, that the developed measures can integrate a large number of datasets, including environmental factors, for the timely prediction of cholera epidemics in Tanzania. Daudel et al [27] constructed and studied a compartmental malaria model. Their results show that the higher implementation of strategies combining awareness programs and therapeutic treatments increases the efficacy of control measures.…”
