Theoretical And Experimental Analysis Of Aluminium Bars Rolling Process In Three-High Skew Rolling Mill

Abstract: Technology of round bars rolling on a three-high skew rolling mills allows rolling of standard materials such as steel and aluminum, as well as new materials, especially hard deformable materials. The paper presents the results of theoretical and experimental rolling process of aluminum bars with a diameter of 20 mm. As the stock round bars with a diameter of 25 mm made of aluminum grade 1050A and aluminum alloy grade 2017A were used. The rolling process of aluminum bars has been carried out in a single pass. … Show more

“…The radial shear rolling (RSR) process is used for rolling round bars made of various metallic materials, including steel [ 17 , 18 ], titanium alloys [ 19 , 20 ], magnesium alloys [ 21 , 22 ], aluminum alloys [ 23 , 24 ] and zirconium alloys [ 25 ]. This process was developed at MISIS (National University of Science and Technology, Moscow, Russia) initially as a tube-forming process, and then adapted to produce round bars [ 26 , 27 , 28 ].…”

“…Due to macro-shear deformation, the deep working of material structure takes place in deformation zone. [16][17][18]. Due to special calibration and large feed angle (β≥18°) the radial deformation (reduction) of workpiece takes place and the crosssectional nonuniformity of deformation is reduced [19].…”

“…They also studied the tube forming process in Diescher's mill [14], and the thermo-mechanical piercing process using the commercial software MSC SuperForm 2005 [15]. Stefanik et al [16] studied the three-high skew process for producing aluminum bars using the Forge 2011 ® software. Romantsev et al [17] studied the piercing process for a new four-high screw rolling mill without guides, which was designed by comparing existing piercing processes in screw rolling mills.…”
