Abstract:Recent progress related to the description of the ϕ meson in nuclear matter is reviewed and summarized. These proceedings in particular focus on the relation between the ϕ meson spectral function and the strangeness content of the nucleon, ⟨N|ss|N⟩. This relation is established through the socalled QCD sum rules, which provide a link between certain integrals of the spectral function and QCD condensates.
