The XAFS beamline BL01B1 at SPring-8

Abstract: An x-ray absorption fine-structure (XAFS) spectroscopy beamline, BL01B1, was installed at a bending magnet source at SPring-8 and has been open to users since October 1997. It was designed for XAFS experiments covering a wide energy range. Position tables and automatical control programs were established to adjust the x-ray optics and achieve the designed performance of the beamline under each experimental condition. This has enabled conventional XAFS measurements to be made with a good data quality from 4.5 t… Show more

“…As increasing the temperature of the CdI 2 cell, the iodine concentration increases. The XAFS measurements were performed at the bending-magnet beam line BL01B1 at the SPring-8 with a Si(111) double crystal monochromator using synchrotron radiation from the 8GeV storage ring [4]. The XAFS spectra were measured in the fluorescence-detection mode.…”

“…16 The main optics were the standard SPring-8 bending magnet system, which contains two mirrors and a fixed-exit double crystal monochromator. Higher harmonics were reduced by reflection on the two mirrors.…”

“…The measurements were carried out at 300 K at a broad energy-band beamline BL01B1. 27 XANES near the Co and Fe K edge were recorded by a Lytle detector in a fluorescent yield mode with a Si͑111͒ double-crystal monochromator. We adopted a quick-scan method, which enables us to obtain each spectrum in 5 min.…”
