The web of swampland conjectures and the TCC bound

Abstract: We consider the swampland distance and de Sitter conjectures, of respective order one parameters λ and c. Inspired by the recent Trans-Planckian Censorship conjecture (TCC), we propose a generalization of the distance conjecture, which bounds λ to be a half of the TCC bound for c, i.e. $$ \lambda \ge \frac{1}{2}\sqrt{\frac{2}{3}} $$ λ ≥ 1 2 … Show more

“…In that context, lots of recent results suggest a very intricate web of swampland conjectures, in which apparently disconnected conjectures happen to be related or even imply each other in many different ways (see e.g. [26,[36][37][38] and references therein). In this respect, some swampland conjectures, like the WGC or the SDC make statements about the properties of the spectrum of consistent theories of QG, whereas others like the dS Conjecture or the ADC refer to the kinds of potentials or vacua that are allowed in QG.…”

“…Besides, several connections between apparently different Swampland Conjectures have been gradually uncovered (see e.g. [26,[36][37][38] and references therein), realizing the idea of a network of interconnected conjectures, instead of a set of unrelated statements. In this context, the precise correspondence between the scalar potential and the interactions of two membranes could provide new ways to relate the restrictions on the scalar potentials with the properties of the membranes.…”

“…Here, e is an anomaly-free gauge coupling and M Pl is the reduced Planck mass. The WGC can be extended to theories with multiple Uð1Þ groups [8] and also to a scalar exchange force such as a Yukawa interaction [9][10][11][12][13].…”

“…It is noted that vectorlike pairs of ψ ab þ ψ da and ψ bc þ ψ cd will constitute the Dirac spinors. 12 Now scalar φ is neutral under anomaly-free Uð1Þ's and will not be considered for the SWGC. The scalar potential will be neglected hereafter with an assumption that φ is sufficiently light at energy scales of our interest since the scalar potential will be model-dependent.…”
