The Wavelet-Based Synthesis for Fractional Brownian Motion Proposed by F. Sellan and Y. Meyer: Remarks and Fast Implementation

Abstract: Abstract-The aim of this communication is to propose some complementary remarks and interpretation on the waveletbased synthesis technique for fractional Brownian motion proposed by Sellan in 1995. These comments will lead us to propose a fast and efficient pyramidal filter bank-based Mallattype algorithm, which permits an easy and efficient implementation of this synthesis technique. c 1996 Academic Press, Inc. “…In general, the fBm processes are considered in three different regions as 0 < H < 0.5, H = 0.5 and 0.5 < H < 1 [25,26], where H is the self-similarity parameter, that is, the Hurst (H) parameter. With H increasing, fBm process becomes more regular.…”

“…With H increasing, fBm process becomes more regular. The detailed description for the fBm process can be found in References [25,26]. Herein, we used the function wfbm.m from the Matlab Wavelet Toolbox to generate the fBm signals with three different H parameters: 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7.…”
