The Vocational Aspirations of the Disadvantaged American Girl

Abstract: This paper is concerned with aspiration and level of aspiration of 415 girls drawn from the incoming population of an urban Job Corps Center. The paper indicates that there are both ethnic and educational considerations to be given in the employment counseling of the disadvantaged young person. The paper also points out the paucity of professional material devoted to the vocational counseling of the less‐than‐college prepared individual.
