Abstract:IR‐ and RAMAN spectra of ethylene‐propylene copolymers are given, and their significance is discussed in terms of the structure of the “crystalline” units. It is concluded that vibrational spectroscopy is applicable to the structural diagnosis in this case, and that the addition of small amounts of propylene to ethylene alters the crystallinity in blocks of the latter to the less normal form containing only one chain per unit cell. In these particular cases, at lower ethylene concentrations normal crystallisat… Show more
The IR and RAMAN spectra of several normal isotactic polyolefins are presented and the effect of cooling is studied. The structural implications of side‐chain and main‐chain crystallization are discussed.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
