The value of water values: departing from geography towards an interdisciplinary synthesis

Abstract: Water valuation represents both an opportunity and a challenge for interdisciplinary scholarly research, given that it can mobilize academic work beyond unnecessary cleavages between physical and social sciences. The article revisits the most common valuation approaches – namely, water as an economic resource, entangled in commodification strategies and embedded in cultural heritages – as important, but incomplete, considerations of the multitude of water values. While previous publications have dealt with the… Show more

“…There are many ways to determine the membership function. In this paper, we use the ascending (descending) semi-trapezoidal distribution to establish a linear membership function [13]. The specific membership function is established as shown in Equations (6)- (8).…”

“…In this expression, rij(i=1, 2, 3,, n; j=1, 2, 3, 4, 5) is the membership degree of indicator i to evaluation factor grade j. This study chose the ascending (descending) semitrapezoidal distribution and established a linear membership function [52] to calculate the membership degree of each indicator in matrix R to different evaluation grades in vector H. That is,…”
