The Value of Sonography in the Diagnosis of a Dissecting Aneurysm of the Celiac Artery

Abstract

Visceral artery aneurysms and dissections are uncommon but clinically important entities. The celiac artery is involved in only 4% of all visceral artery aneurysm (VAA) cases. Awareness of this pathology is important because of its unpredictable natural history and life-threatening complications.In this report, we describe an interesting case of a celiac artery aneurysm with dissection secondary to rheumatoid vasculitis and present a review of the literature on celiac artery disease. Although computed tomography angiography (CTA) and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) were done to confirm the diagnosis of the disease, sonography, in this case, provided the best visualization of the pathology with no additional information from the
