“…Recent reviews in the migration and expatriation literatures especially have been helpful in framing the issues of global family life clearly and constructively (e.g. Beigi and Shirmohammadi, 2017;Bianchi and Milkie, 2010;Glick, 2010;Grillo, 2008;Jaga and Guetterman, 2021;Lin and Lin, 2021;Mazzucato and Schans, 2011;Shaffer, Joplin and Hsu, 2011;Van Hook and Glick, 2020). “…The importance of grounding context-sensitive work-family theory and research in lived realities is becoming increasingly important as workers' experiences and policy outcomes depend on the organisational as well as the socio-cultural, political, and economic context of a country (Jaga & Guetterman, 2021). Workplace cultures and other contextual factors shape the availability of different work-family arrangements, the ability of workers to access an arrangement (Lott & Abendroth, 2020;Eaton, 2003), and the outcomes of those arrangements (Kelly et al, 2014;Chung, 2022).…”

“…Following this call for research, we took the opportunity to examine Lebanon—a developing economy with minimal labour protection and statutory work–life support—as our study context. To empirically examine how the Lebanese context interacts with the provision of organisational work–life support and related employee consequences, we apply a mixed methods approach (Bartholomew & Brown, 2012; Church & Katigbak, 2002) that follows an exploratory sequential design (Jaga & Guetterman, 2021). This allows us by means of qualitative interviews to first explore and identify the unique context specific challenges, available support mechanisms and reactions as well as coping strategies from the view of HR managers and BC and WC workers alike.…”
