“…On average, better social functioning on the PSP was associated with less clinical severity, particularly with PANSS positive symptoms and CGI-S scores. A minimum clinically important difference (MCID) of 10 points for the PSP global score has been suggested from a study using pooled clinical trial data comparing PSP with PANSS and CGI-S [23,34]. Significant differences in this study with CGI-S and PANSS positive and negative severity groups were approximately 9 to 21 points.…”

“…Several clinical trial studies conducted among schizophrenia patients reported significant improvements in personal and social performance, measured by the Personal and Social Performance scale (PSP) [19], with a new atypical antipsychotic medication, Invega TM (paliperidone), compared to placebo [20][21][22]. Clinically significant improvements in functioning with the PSP were found among chronic schizophrenia patients treated in a rehabilitation setting using the VADO (translated into English, skills assessment and definition of goals) treatment approach compared to routine care in a randomized controlled trial [23].…”

“…An Italian RCT of a skills assessment and definition of goals program showed that PSP scores had improved at both 6-and 12-month follow-up in 85 people with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or delusion disorders (Gigantesco et al, 2006). The results were both statistically and clinically significant.…”

“…Studies of individualized psychosocial skills training programs (e.g., Moriana, Alarcon, & Herruzzo, 2006) suggest that both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia can be reduced, while problem-solving remediation and memory remediation may produce similar results (Bark et al, 2002). Similarly, Gigantesco et al (2006) demonstrated that a skills assessment and definition of goals program improved the global functioning of 85 people with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or delusion disorders. The results were both statistically and clinically significant.…”
