Water pollution is the threat to the survival of life on mother earth but due to industrialization clean reservoirs of water deteriorated day by day which demands eco-friendly, cheap and highly efficient methods to counter this issue. So due to this pressing ultimatum nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles are synthesized with Lawasonia inermis as a reducing and capping agent. Green-synthesized NiO-NPs are analysed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and energy dispersive x-ray (EDX). In this study, synthesized NiO-NPs are used to remove methyl red (MR) and radioactive iodine from polluted water. The maximum adsorption efficiency of methyl red is 89% at contact time 120 minutes, pH 5.0, temperature 10 0C and adsorbent dose of 1 g. The percentage adsorption by weight of NiO nanoparticles for radioactive iodine is 225%. The adsorption capacity was calculated 4.58 mgg− 1 for methyl red at optimum conditions. Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin-Radushkevich adsorption isotherms are studied, and the experimental data suggests that Langmuir isotherms are best fit with R2 = 0.996. According to a kinetic analysis, the pseudo 2ND order kinetic model best fits the adsorption mechanism having R2 = 0.993 A thermodynamic study shows the current process is spontaneous and endothermic, where Gibbs free energy (ΔG), enthalpy change (ΔH) and entropy change (ΔS) were − 5.9461 kjmol− 1, 33.04 kjmol− 1 and 0.00338 kjmol− 1K− 1, respectively. NiO NPs contribute to the degradation of methyl red with minimal resource utilization with promising efficiency. Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH)-derived materials exhibited different characteristics from LDH precursors. The conversion of ZnAl LDH into its derivative material has been carried out to find the best catalyst for TC degradation. ZnAl (LDH)-based catalysts in this study have been effectively synthesized using coprecipitation, calcination, and restacking procedures. ZnAl Layered Double Oxide (LDO) is derived from the calcination of ZnAl LDH at 500°C. ZnAl LDH was also modified by adding Garcinia mangostana pericarp extract (GME). XRD, FT-IR, UV-DRS, and SEM-EDX were used to investigate the synthesized catalyst. ZnAl LDH exhibited the typical LDH FT-IR spectra, whereas ZnAl LDO showed metal oxide-like spectra, and the ZnAl-GME composite displayed the combination spectra of precursor material. The ZnAl LDH XRD diffraction pattern exhibited the attributes of a layered material, whereas the other three catalysts did not. Calcination destroyed the layered structure of ZnAl LDH, whereas the addition of GME to LDH and LDO generated a single-layered composite. The modified ZnAl-GME composite showed a decrease in both particle size and bandgap energy. At an ideal pH of 5, the synthesized catalyst was used in a batch system photodegradation of 5 mg/L Tetracycline (TC), employing solar light irradiation. ZnAl LDO holds the most significant catalytic activity and structural stability through the fifth regeneration cycle, degraded TC up to 100% in 90 minutes.

Hydroxyapatite (HA), the most common bioceramic material, offers attractive properties as a catalyst support. Highly crystalline mono-dispersed silver doped hydroxyapatite (Ag-HA) nanorods of 60 nm length was developed via hydrothermal processing. Silver dopant offered enhanced chemisorption for crystal violet (CV) contaminant. Silver was found to intensify negative charge on the catalyst surface; in this regard enhanced chemisorption of positively charged contaminants was accomplished. Silver dopant experienced decrease in the binding energy of valence electron for oxygen, calcium, and phosphorous using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy XPS/ESCA; this finding could promote electron–hole generation and light absorption. Removal efficiency of Ag-HA nanocomposite for CV reached 88% after the synergistic effect with 1.0 mM H2O2; silver dopant could initiate H2O2 cleavage and intensify the release of active ȮH radicals. Whereas HA suffers from lack of microbial resistance; Ag-HA nanocomposite demonstrated high activity against Gram-positive (S. aureus) bacteria with zone of inhibition (ZOI) mm value of 18.0 mm, and high biofilm inhibition of 91.1%. Ag-HA nanocompsite experienced distinctive characerisitcs for utilization as green bioceramic photocatalyst for wastewater treatment.
