Interest has been globally established as a powerful predictor that triggers engagement, especially in fostering physical culture among students. Scholarly works in PE have already shown that situational interest triggers individual interest, which can lead to highly engaged students. However, little is known about the impact of individual interest alone on students’ school engagement. In this regard, this study is focused on determining the significant difference between the sex and institution of students concerning individual interest and school engagement. Moreover, it aimed to assess the relationship and direct influence of individual interest on school engagement. After obtaining data from 1659 samples of undergraduate students from the most prominent local colleges in Pampanga, it was revealed that there is no significant difference concerning individual interest and school engagement between sex and institution. Fascinatingly, a significant association between students’ individual interests and school engagement was observed. Lastly, individual interest, along with its three factors, predicts school engagement. It can be concluded that individual interest has a direct positive influence on school engagement. Recommendations for future research direction and PE teachers to fully translate physical culture to students to improve their overall well-being are hereby presented.

Schools and high schools in Chile are currently facing several challenges, among them the increase in migration, where intercultural education is a key issue. The aim of this article is to analyse the scientific literature on intercultural education in Chile, from pre-school to secondary education. The search methodology, planning, conducting, and reporting of the review correspond to Kitchenham (2004); the review considers 23 articles indexed in the international databases Web of Science, SCOPUS, and Dimensions in the period from December 2000 to March 2021. The findings reveal a limited scientific production of intercultural education in pre-school, primary, and secondary education, with 8.01% of the articles analysed. The bibliometric indexes show a lack of exponential growth due to the absence of publications in 2020, 2011, and 2013. It is concluded that teachers need to participate in professional development processes, focusing on aspects related to the curriculum and intercultural competences. Future lines of research should prioritize intercultural pedagogy, focusing on dialogue and respect for diversity.

Physical Education is one of the subjects that arouses the most interest in children. The aim of this study is to find out the opinion that primary school students have about the Physical Education class. Drawings from a sample of 62 students from an educational centre in the city of Jaén, aged between six and eight years old, were analysed. The results show that the larger size of the drawings corresponds to the aspects that are to be emphasised. This subject is carried out regularly in the sports pavilion of the centre, making frequent use of materials such as sticks, hoops or balls. Cheerful colours are used, reflecting their enthusiasm for the subject. The smiling facial expression represents the schoolchildren’s interest in the subject. The most popular games or sports are basketball and pichi, both of them collective.
