This study aims to find out the students’ preferences for online classroom activities in English for Specific Purpose (ESP) speaking skills and the benefits that the students get from their preferred activities. Eighty-five students of the Psychology Department ranging from 17 to 22 years old, were proportionally selected to involve filling in the questionnaire and 10 students were interviewed. The findings show that there were several online learning activities both in synchronous or asynchronous mode including conducting a discussion by using video conference (zoom, google meet, etc.), conducting online task or quizzes, making a self-introduction video, conducting asynchronous discussion through learning platforms (canvas/LMS, google classroom, Edmodo, etc.), watching a Youtube video, making video project about a topic, and making a video about digital storytelling. Yet, the most favourable ofthe students’ preferences of online classroom activities in ESP speaking skills is discussion activities by using video conferences such as Zoom and Google Meet (Mean=3.3). Those activities were beneficial for students to improve students’ vocabulary, creativity, and speaking skills as well. In conclusion, t he use of video conferencing such as Zoom and Google Meet was considthe most preferable learning activities for speaking skills, followed by quizzes, watching Youtube, and other online learning activities. The students perceived that online speaking activities could improve their speaking skills. In addition, the implication of the study will be further discussed as well.

Because of the pandemic, Indonesian government implemented new policies in the education system. Previously, education and training took place in the luring situation on a regular basis, particularly in higher education institutions, and now it is entirely daring. The current study aims to examine students' issues in speaking for ESP contexts during the COVID-19 circumstance when they were learning the English language by the online situation. The descriptive qualitative design was used in this study. The information was gathered using questionnaire in the help of Google form media and also interviews with 40 students from the fourth semester of the Management Informatics Diploma Major at Piksi Input Serang Polytechnic in Banten. Based on this study, the research findings highlighted a variety of issues for students. Six issues emerged during distance learning in the Speaking course. The first issue that arose was students' learning equipment and supporting facilities. The second issue was dealing with students' accessibility restrictions to Online Video Conference. The third issue was students' concerns on the lecturer's materials during an online lesson. The fourth issue was the students' approach to completing the lecturer's task or assignment. The use of online streaming videos as a media of learning resources also had a role in the fifth and final issue that emerged during distance learning amid COVID-19 pandemic situations is students' limited cell signal and internet quota. The findings can be used to further enhance and improve online teaching and learning techniques. Further research into how students deal with obstacles is encouraged.

This research highlights the weaknesses of communication patterns in offline learning which eventually become opportunities for online learning communication methods. The analysis in this study discusses the various advantages offered by online learning communication, revealing innovative methods and adaptive strategies that contribute to a more dynamic and effective way of delivering material experience. The method used in this study is the literature review method. Preparation of a literature review involves several stages, including finding relevant literature and evaluating literature sources. At the end of the findings will be presented 10 components that make online learning communication a tool to improve the practice of educational communication and overcome the challenges faced by conventional methods.
