“…Zebrafish (Danio rerio) have become an important model organism for neuropharmacological and behavioural research, and they are increasingly exploited for anxiety and stress research, as their genome, brain patterning, structure and function of neurochemical and behavioural systems show large similarities to those of terrestrial vertebrates, such as humans (for a review, see Steenbergen et al (2011)).
