“…A study of 566 patients admitted with acute or subacute alcohol toxicity to a detoxification unit in the U.S.A. showed that, in those who had not been previously admitted, a third had a seizure as one of the presenting symptoms of the admission. Among those who had been admitted previously, a similar proportion had a seizure when they were admitted during the study period, even though many of these had been put on anticonvulsants [15]. These findings may overstate the usual proportion.…”
