Water contamination by various pollutants, such as conventional pollutants like dyes and other emerging micropollutants, is of great concern. Nowadays, there are a host of processes for the removal of dyes from contaminated water. Due to its greater surface area, mechanical properties, and thermal properties, PANI got wide acceptance. It is prepared by chemical, electrochemical, or photochemical polymerizations. Smart properties of PANI are further enhanced by adding dopants which may be inorganic or organic, like HCl, H2SO4, and nicotinic acid. Due to π conjugated electrons, PANI nanocomposites photo-catalytically degrade dye components from wastewater. However, adsorption is the most efficient and promising one. These composites become good hosts to adsorb dye components on their surface by cationic π-interaction or anionic πinteraction. The unique doping and dedoping properties of PANI change its morphology, pore size, and surface charge, enhancing the adsorbateadsorbent interactions and the adsorption performance. The adsorption mechanism of dye on the surface of the PANI nanocomposite involves Hbonding, van der Walls interactions, covalent interactions, and electrostatic interactions. In the end, future perspectives on removing dyes using PANI are discussed

The development of low-cost methods for wastewater treatment and the separation of oil-in-water emulsions is of considerable significance. Recently, natural material-based, inexpensive membranes have become a hot area of research. In this work, natural olive seeds were used to develop a novel ceramic membrane support. With the oil filtration process in place, the choice was reached to utilize the olive kernels’ beneficial qualities best. The process involved blending plastic paste with water and organic ingredients, followed by extruding the resulting paste into a porous tubular. After firing at 200 °C/2 h, the membrane's water permeability and porosity were 1,852 L/h m2 bar and 45%, respectively, and its average pore width varied from 2 to 15 μm. The efficiency of the microfiltration membrane in separating oil-in-water emulsions was assessed using two test solutions containing oil concentrations of 500 and 1,000 mg/L. Under a transmembrane pressure of 1 bar, the membrane exhibited exceptional permeate flux exceeding 200 L/m2 h, along with a high oil rejection rate of over 96% across all feed concentrations.

[The Potential of Sago Bark (Metroxylon sago) as Biosorbent for Adsorption of Crystal Violet Dye: Isotherm, Kinetic, Thermodynamic Studies and Its Application] Penelitian bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan limbah kulit batang sagu (Metroxylon sago) sebagai biosorben yang berbiaya rendah untuk penyerapan zat warna crystal violet. Metoda adsorpsi dengan sistem batch digunakan dalam proses optimasi dengan parameter yaitu pengaruh pH, kosentrasi awal, waktu kontak dan suhu pemanasan biosorben. Kondisi optimum diperoleh pada pH 7, konsentrasi awal 900 mg/L, waktu kontak 45 menit, dan suhu pemanasan biosorben 25Â°C dengan kapasitas adsorpsi sebesar 72,57 mg/g. Proses adsorpsi mengikuti model isoterm Langmuir (R2 = 0,9985) dan model kinetika orde dua semu dengan R2 = 0,9890. Studi termodinamika menunjukkan bahwa proses adsorpsiberlangsung secara spontan dan eksotermik. Siklus adsorpsi-desorpsi menggunakan asam asetat 30% didapatkan sebanyak 5 siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa limbah kulit batang sagu memiliki potensi sebagai adsorben berbiaya murah, ramah lingkungan dan efisiensi yang tinggi.
