Abstract: Molecular techniques -sequencing of the nuclear internal transcribed spacer region (ITS), and fingerprinting of amplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLP) and intersimple sequence repeats (ISSR) -were investigated for their potential to characterise genetic variation in harakeke (Phormium spp., family Hemerocallidaceae) in New Zealand.
